Warmer near the Gulf...

Hello bloggers... Just for the record, I'm here on the beach on the Gulf of Mexico. The sun is shining although a bit on the cool side for this climate today. But... it really is "warmer near the Gulf!" Jim

Welcome, it was 73 here yesterday (on the Gulf of Mexico)and more of the same for the next 10 days.

Looks like you are near Gulf Shores.

Hi...Boy, you sure know the Gulf coast. We're actually in Perdido Key, Fla., but, as you undoubtedly know, just a few short minutes from Gulf Shores. Same weather here -- 70s feels great when you're from northern Minnesota. Glad to see you've caught my blog. -- JH

I just a little west of you in Gulfport, Ms. Born and raised in Duluth, but been living here since 1972. Enjoyed your book and your articles for many years, even though I'm one of those "Uppity Norwegians."

PS: The Firebottle tag came from friends who noticed mt fondness for vacuum tube radios which I have restored for many years.

As I recall, your area was hit by Katrina. Thanks for keeping up with my musings. Kinda neat to know there are folks like you around the country reading. Those vacuum tube radios are really antiques now; must be fun to restore.

Our neighborhood was spared any major damage from Katrina, even though we are less than 2 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. We lost 27 shingles and a very old large pine tree (85 ft.) but no water damage or flooding. We were lucky.

We visit the Perdido Key and Orange Beach area several times a year for a night or two. Enjoy your stay.

The radios are a hobby and provide me with beer money so I can get Leinenkugel's smuggled down from Duluth every fall by friends on their way to Florida for the winter.
